Acupuncture Treatment for Infertility

Infertility is not always a woman’s problem, both women and men may have the problems that cause infertility sometimes. Therefore, when treating infertility, it is necessary that the male partner receive a sperm analysis.


Acupuncture and TCM significantly increase the rate of pregnancy in 8 kinds of ways:

Causes:

1. Constitutional Deficiency: congenital Kidney deficiency which come from being born or having an unhealthy parents.

2. Emotional depression or anxiety: can lead to Liver Qi stagnation, Qi free flow and blood flow will be slower, uterus and ovary cannot get enough nutrients.

3. Excessive Sexual Activity: will injure Kidney Qi, Kidney Yang, or Kidney Yin.

Because Kidney stores Essence and is in charge of the reproductive function; therefore Kidney Essence deficiency will result in malnutrition of the Uterus, Chong and Ren Meridian.

4. Cold or damp or Phlegm accumulation in Uterus: can obstruct Qi movement and block the Uterine vessels, preventing it from conserving essence to achieve pregnancy.

5. Blood stagnation accumulation in Uterus : can block the Uterine vessels.


TCM Differentiation:

1. Kidney-Qi deficiency.

2. Kidney-Yang Qi deficiency.

3. Kidney-Yin Qi deficiency.

4. Liver-Qi stagnation.

5. Blood stasis.

6. Internal blockage of phlegm and dampness.


1. Kidney-Qi deficiency.

Symptoms: Infertility, irregular menstruation, irregular amount of blood, dizziness and tinnitus, lower back pain and weak legs, emotional exhaustion, clear and excessive urine, pale tongue with thin coating, deep and thready pulse, especially in cubit region.


2. Kidney-Yang Qi deficiency.

Symptoms: Infertility, delayed menstruation, scanty and pale blood, usual excessive white discharge, severe lumbago, cold abdomen and limbs, dark complexion, pale tongue with white moister coating, deep and thready pulse or deep , slow and weak pulse.


3. Kidney-Yin Qi deficiency.

Symptoms: Infertility, early menstrual periods with scanty pale blood flow, dizziness and tinnitus, sore waist and weak legs, blurred vision and palpitation, feverish sensation in the five centers, low fever in the afternoon, red tongue with scanty coating, thready and rapid pulse.


4. Liver-Qi stagnation.

Symptoms: Infertility, irregular menstruation, menstrual blood with clots, discomfort in chest and hypochondrium, depression and irritability, red tongue with a thin coating, wiry pulse.


5. Blood stasis.

Symptoms: Infertility, delayed menstruation, unpredictable amount of purple blood flow with clots, pain and discomfort in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral area, aggravated by pressing, purple tongue, wiry and choppy pulse.


6. Internal blockage of phlegm and dampness.

Symptoms: Infertility, obesity, delayed menstruation, excessive leucorrhea which is white, sticky and odorless, dizziness and palpitation, chest oppression with desire to vomit, whitish complexion, white and sticky tongue coating, slippery pulse.
